How can exercise help your chiropractic adjustment?

Did you know that exercise can help prolong the benefits of your chiropractic adjustment?

I have had the pleasure of working in the office of Birdsall Chiropractic Hand & Foot Clinic. Usually clients need adjustments as the result of injury or overuse. Myself included! As a reminder, joints are where two bones meet. They make the skeleton flexible — without them, movement would be impossible. Muscles are also necessary for movement: They’re the masses of tough, elastic tissue that pull our bones when we move.



So why would exercise be important to help maintain your results after an adjustment?


  • As your joints are shifted back to the original position, your supporting muscles need to re-learn their position
  • Without proper muscle training, your muscles will attempt to pull your joints back to the pre-adjusted placement
  • Building additional mobility in your muscles will help ease up your adjustment
  • As you build strength, your muscles will help keep your joints aligned as adjusted

Have you been using a chriorpactor to relieve some of those aches and pains?  There are other other tips to follow to prevent the need for adjustments:

  • Stand up every 20-30 minutes
  • Use a stability ball instead of a chair
  • Focus on strengthening your core muscles – think chest to quads and all the way around
  • Drink plenty of water to keep your muscles mobile
