For some, fitness lovers can be a little annoying with all of the chatter around how many workouts, macros, micros, and PRs have been hit for the week. For others, getting to the gym is just not on the agenda. And for most, exercise is a way of life to enhance the time we have together by energizing us and relieving us of life’s daily stressors. It’s “you” of the masses I am speaking to today.
As a trainer, I see this more often than I like, but I totally get it! Today’s sociey has a shorter attention span. We have access to everything at our fingertips. Soundbites are now the full story and headlines are the Cliff Notes. And yes, it effects all aspects of life. Haven’t you heard a friend who wants to lose 20lbs in 3 weeks and keep it off for good without really changing anything? We’ve all learned along the hallways of the school of life that it takes 28 days to create a habit. It takes only one bad decision to wreck that habit. But, find something that you love…something that you are passionate about…and suddenly that habit can become an addiciton. But when that addiction becomes a drain (and yes, addiction can be too redundant in life), it’s time to try something new.
Today, I tried something new!! I’m not one to sit still long enough for a long yoga class. I have been to a handful of hot yoga classes that had us moving quickly. Yoga is something I’d love to schedule more of in my own workout week. So today I decided to try my first class of Anti-gravity fitness. WOW!! What FUN!
I attended a class welcome to all levels. I was focused on making sure not to fall off the hammock…craziness! We swayed, we swung, we balanced, we were upside down! My abs and arms are sore…oh yeah! My spine seemed to elongate. My shoulders seemed to relax. My hips seem to realign. I have a new appreciation for my body.
I admit I was a little intimdated with the idea of trying a completely new modality. And now I can tell you that I LOVED it and I can’t wait for another class!!
