Many of my clients have homework – say 3 positive affirmations every morning BEFORE getting out of bed. I have found when I use this to start my day, I have a GREAT day! Everything may not be perfect. Everything may not go exactly my way. However, just by sending out positive vibes I can emotionally feel the warm hug of the Universe. Sound cheesy? That’s ok! Some people pray to a religious leader, some to a spiritual entity. Regardless of who or what you submit your positive energy to, you will find it come back to you! How awesome is that? The mind is amazing in that it hears everything your inner voice says – whether you say it out loud or not. Walk through this experiment with me…Think about someone who you routinely see – could be at work, at school, the neighborhood BBQ, or even the cashier at the grocery store. Let’s say it’s a coworker with whom you often work on projects but you find that this person’s negative attitude puts you in a funk…ugh. How do you get out of it? Do you start talking about how crappy your job is or how much you can’t stand working with him/her? Stop for a moment – now mindfully pay attention to how you’re sitting, the furrow in your brow, the clenched jaw, and the stress in your shoulders…keep in mind this was just an experiment – you’re not even WITH that person right now! Those negative feelings are full of negative energy. Now, think of someone who brings a smile to your face just by the mention of their name – could be your child, your spouse, your BFF, or even your pet. Did you just smile? Did you notice how good it felt? Wouldn’t that be a nice way to start your day? You’ll probably stay positive longer, stay focused on your day’s goals, and make healthier choices when it’s lunch time. Staying positive will do wonders for your weight loss journey. It has for me!
